Keep Cool during the hot weather

Its predicted the weather for the next two weeks is going to be very hot, 30 degrees and above for several days.  The heatwave is welcomed by many but for the vulnerable and old, it can bring severe risks.  We are working with our residents across all our independent living schemes to make sure they are as comfortable as possible and offering advice to their families by:

-Encouraging our residents to keep out of the sun

-Keeping their homes as cool as possible by advising them to shut the curtains and windows to keep the heat out during the day whilst opening them when its cooler at night.

-Encouraging drinking and making sure that a cool drink is placed in reaching  distance.

-Ensuring our carers are aware of any one who might be at risk, and that they  know what to do and what preventative measures need to be put in place.

-Offering advice to residents’ families.

You can read our full article here detailing  ten simple steps that we can take to lessen the risk of hot weather so we can all enjoy this beautiful weather before the rain comes back!
