Meet our Area Manager for Community Care
Leigh, a former live-in carer herself, has been working in health and social care professionally since 2019. Leigh understands the intricacies of the relationship between a client and their carer and knows exactly what it takes to provide outstanding care for people who wish to remain living in their own homes. Leigh has worked extensively with charitable projects and fundraising organisations in her native country South Africa which she found enormously rewarding and this experience helped pave the way for a career in social care. She is responsible for managing our home care and community care services. Find out more in the interview below.
How long have you worked in the care industry?
I have worked in care since 2019, starting as a live-in carer, I then bought my own care franchise in 2020 and was a registered manager until this year.
What does your new role entail?
I will be launching and managing Care is Central’s new Home Care services. I will be building a team and service model for Care Hubs across Central Bedfordshire, bringing high quality care to people who wish to remain living independently in their homes for as long as possible.
What does high-quality care or ‘doing care differently’ mean to you?
I believe that high quality care should be the same care you would provide if you were caring for your mother. It’s about treating everyone with respect and compassion, two of the values that are central to the way Care is Central operates.
What do you think makes Care is Central different?
The company values stood out to me. They believe in providing high quality care not only for clients but also offer care and support to employees, both workwise and personally, helping them to achieve all aspirations.
How are you hoping to add value?
I’m looking forward to growing a team that is driven to make a positive impact in the community. I would also like to combat loneliness through longer visits and adding value to our client’s lives.
